Castles in the skye

What survives distortion often carries the deepest truth.

The Story Before the Map

Castles in the Skye is the creative and literary work of Sabra Burch — a writer, visual storyteller, and founder of Laurel Hill & Co.

Blending symbolism, nervous system insight, ancestral themes, mythology, and lived experience, her work explores what happens when internal truth begins to outgrow inherited roles, conditioned narratives, and systems built on distortion.

Across visual storytelling, reflective writing, and symbolic narrative, recurring themes emerge:
signal and interference,
river and obstruction,
memory and embodiment,
coherence and recognition.

Rooted in both poetic language and psychological pattern recognition, this space is less about self-help and more about remembering —
the process of returning to what was always true beneath performance, pressure, and survival adaptation.

Inspired by Scottish ancestry, the Isle of Skye, symbolic architecture, kintsugi philosophy, and the intelligence carried within the body itself, her work invites readers into a deeper conversation about perception, sovereignty, healing, and the structures that shape human connection.

Some truths are recognized long before they can be fully explained.

Inheritance & Recognition

What the body recognizes, the mind eventually learns to name.
